DATE: April 7, 2026
TO: Board of Supervisors
SUBMITTED BY: Kari Gilbert, Director
Department of Child Support Services
SUBJECT: Contribution of Funds for a Community Outreach Event
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Department of Child Support Services to participate in and attend the Central California Women’s Conference for FY 2025-26, per Administrative Policy No. 80.
REPORT
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Administrative Policy 80 was approved to govern department contributions for non-County events, causes, or anything similar. Approval of this item will allow the Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) to participate in the annual Central California Women’s Conference as a sponsor. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Should your Board not approve the recommended action, DCSS will not contribute funds or attend the Central California Women’s Conference.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. An expenditure in the amount of $12,250 will be used to sponsor the conference. Sufficient appropriations are included in the Department’s Org 5110 FY 2025-26 Adopted Budget.
DISCUSSION:
On July 8, 2025, your Board approved Administrative Policy 80 - Department Contributions of Funds for Non-County Events or Causes, to ensure that the County follows a consistent process when departments seek to make contributions of funds for non-County events, causes, or anything similar.
DCSS actively participates in community events and seeks outreach opportunities which help to promote the child support program and increase awareness for families who may benefit from our services. DCSS has attended the Central California Women’s Conference in the past and requests to attend and sponsor this year’s conference, which will be held on September 15, 2026. While at the conference, DCSS plans to set up a 20x10 exhibit space to distribute various outreach materials in an effort to engage community awareness and increase case referrals. Along with the exhibit space, the sponsorship package also includes DCSS’ logo on various promotional and media material. Approval of the recommended action would allow DCSS to participate and sponsor this year’s conference.
