SUBJECT: Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding for Representation Unit 1 - Law Enforcement Personnel, represented by Fresno Deputy Sheriff’s Association
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Representation Unit 1 - Law Enforcement Personnel, represented by Fresno Deputy Sheriff’s Association, effective May 13, 2024.
REPORT
The total year-over-year cost of the recommended actions is approximately $38,434; $30,747 of which is Net County Cost (NCC). Approval of the recommended action would update Article 10 - Shift Premium of Unit 1’s MOU to add Deputy Sheriffs to the list of eligible classifications who assist in the dispatch call center. Impacted department appropriations will be monitored and budget adjustments will be brought to your Board, if necessary.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If your Board were not to approve the recommended actions, the MOU for Unit 1 would remain unchanged.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total estimated cost of the recommended actions for FY 2023-24 is approximately $5,124, including related retirement costs, $4,099 of which is NCC. Impacted department appropriations will be monitored and adjustments will be brought to your Board if needed. The estimated cost for FY 2024-25 is $33,309; $26,647 of which is NCC. Sufficient appropriations will be included in the impacted department’s FY 2024-25 budget request.
DISCUSSION:
In 2022, your Board approved a successor MOU for Representation Unit 1, authorizing a shift premium for employees in certain eligible classifications. The recommended action would update Article 10 - Shift Premium of Unit 1’s MOU to add Deputy Sheriffs to the list of eligible classifications who assist in the dispatch call center.
This action is intended to compensate Deputy Sheriffs filling specific Communications Dispatchers assignments (Watch I, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.) while vacancies are filled.
