SUBJECT: Resolution accepting monetary donation from the Sunnyside Chapter of Friends of the Library
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Adopt Resolution accepting and expressing gratitude for the monetary donation of $7,157 from Friends of the Library to purchase furniture for the Sunnyside library during FY 2016-17; and
2. Adopt Budget Resolution increasing the FY 2016-17 appropriations and estimated revenues for the County Library Book Fund Org 7521 in the amount of $7,157 (4/5 vote).
REPORT
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. The first recommended action is required to satisfy the reporting requirements under Chapter 762.12 of the CAO Management Directives for donations greater than $500.00 in value. The approval of the recommended actions will allow the Library to accept a donation from Friends of the Library to purchase new library branch furniture for the Sunnyside library during FY 2016-17.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board may choose to not accept the donation from Friends of the Library. If the donation is not accepted, worn library branch furniture at the Sunnyside library will not be replaced with new furniture.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. Upon approval, the donation will be accepted and the items will be purchased in FY 2016-17. Approval of the second recommended action will increase the FY 2016-17 appropriations and estimated revenues for the County Library Book Fund Org 7521 in the amount of $7,157 to replace small furniture for public use at the Sunnyside library branch.
DISCUSSION:
Friends of the Sunnyside Library is a subsidiary chapter of Friends of the Library. The goal of Friends of the Library is to support branch library operations. They have done this by supporting library programs and special projects through the sale of donated books at the library.
Friends of the Library would like to contribute $7,157 to purchase two small tables and eight chairs for the Children’s Room at the Sunnyside Regional Library. The Sunnyside Regional Library has a steady demand for seating and the donation will assist the Library with meeting the needs of children who visit the facility.
