SUBJECT:                     Salary Resolution Amendment

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Approve Amendment to the Salary Resolution, allocating twelve (12) Deputy Sheriff positions in Position Group 3, with no net increase to positions, within Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator’s Org 3111, effective December 9, 2024, as reflected on Appendix “A”.

REPORT

There is no increase to Net County Cost (NCC) associated with the approval of the recommended action, which would allocate twelve Deputy Sheriff positions in Position Group 3 to provide transportation and security for inmates receiving medical care.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If your Board were not to approve the recommended action, the Salary Resolution would remain unchanged.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in NCC associated with the approval of the recommended action. The Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator’s FY 2024-25 Adopted Budget Org 3111 contains sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues for the ongoing costs of these positions. Sufficient appropriations will be included in budget requests for FY 2025-26.

DISCUSSION:

Approval of the recommended action would allocate twelve Deputy Sheriff positions to Position Group 3 in the Sheriff’s Office Org 3111, with no net increase in overall positions. These emergency allocations are intended to provide transportation and security of inmates while they receive medical care, allowing Correctional Officers to remain on the jail floor. These positions will be limited to Deputy Sheriff Recruit/I/II and will be reallocated or deleted once sufficient Correctional Officer vacancies have been filled, as reflected on Appendix “A.” Additionally, any Sheriff’s Office request for increase to Deputy Sheriff allocations in Position Group 2 shall first replace the emergency allocations under Position Group 3 before further permanent allocations are approved.
