REPORT
Approval of the recommended actions will provide funds to the (1) Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation to provide relief for families of deputies killed or injured in the line of duty and support community activities, and (2) addiction treatment programs at The Light House Recovery Center. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board may choose to not authorize support of District 3 to either or both organizations, the Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation and The Light House Recovery Center.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations ($20,000) are included in the Board of Supervisors Org 0110 Fiscal Year 2024-25 Adopted Budget.
DISCUSSION:
On August 8, 2017, the Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budgets for community outreach services and programs.
The Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation recognizes and honors those who have given their lives while in service to Fresno County, providing support for the families and deputies. Approval of the first recommended action will provide $15,000 to help provide relief for families of deputies killed or injured in the line of duty, and community support activities.
The Light House Recovery Center assists women and families in a variety of sobriety recovery programs including residential program, therapy, after care program, family re-connection, and hands-on work experience. Approval of the second recommended action will provide $5,000 to support The Light House Recovery Center and its programs.
These expenditures were submitted to County Counsel for review and approval. County Counsel has deemed it an appropriate expenditure under Administrative Policy No. 75 guidelines.
