SUBJECT: Non-monetary Donation to the Fresno County Public Library from Fresno’s Chaffee Zoo Corporation
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt Resolution accepting and expressing gratitude to Fresno’s Chaffee Zoo Corporation for the non-monetary donation to the Library for 280 Adult and 105 Child Any Day Admission Fresno County tickets valued at $8,381 for the Summer at Your Library Reading Challenge.
REPORT
There is no Net County Cost (NCC) associated with the recommended action. The recommended action is required to satisfy the reporting requirements under the Fresno County Board of Supervisors Administrative Policy (AP) No. 30 for donations greater than $7,500 in value. Approval of the recommended action will allow the Library to accept a donation for 280 Adult and 105 Child Any Day Admission Fresno County tickets valued at $8,381 for the Summer at Your Library (SAYL) Reading Challenge. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board may choose to decline the donation from Fresno’s Chaffee Zoo Corporation (FCZ). If the recommended action is not approved by your Board, the 280 Adult and 105 Child Any Day Admission Fresno County tickets donation will not be accepted.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no NCC associated with the recommended action. Approval of the recommended action will allow the Library to accept 280 Adult and 105 Child Any Day Admission Fresno County tickets for the SAYL Reading Challenge. The non-monetary value of the tickets is $8,381.
DISCUSSION:
On April 21, 2026, your Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Library and FCZ, allowing FCZ to collaborate with the Library on programs, resource sharing, and participation through SAYL. The MOU included FCZ’s commitment to donate 280 Adult and 105 Child Any Day Admission Fresno County tickets to be used as incentives for participants in the SAYL Reading Challenge.
On May 12, 2026, your Board ratified the County Administrative Officer’s approval of the 2026 SAYL “Go Wild for Reading” theme in accordance with AP No. 81.
The recommended action is required to satisfy the reporting requirements under AP No. 30 for donations greater than $7,500 in value.
DONOR DISCLOSURES:
To satisfy reporting requirements under AP No. 30 for donations greater than $7,500 in value, the following disclosures are provided:
• FCZ is not a County contractor or principal in a business, agency or organization providing contracted services with the County.
• FCZ is not a contractor that has bid on a County contract in the last 12 months.
• The Library has no knowledge that the donor will bid on any County contract within the next 12 months.
• FCZ has provided a non-monetary donation of 280 Adult and 105 Child Any Day Admission Fresno County tickets valued at $8,381 for the SAYL Reading Challenge.
