DATE: October 20, 2026
TO: Board of Supervisors
SUBMITTED BY: Paul Nerland, County Administrative Officer
SUBJECT: Reconstitution of the Capital Projects Ad Hoc Committee
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve the reconstitution of the Board of Supervisors/County Administrative Office Capital Projects Ad Hoc Committee established by the Board of Supervisors on November 16, 2021, by removing Supervisors Magsig and Pacheco as members and appointing Supervisors Bredefeld and Chavez as members of the Ad Hoc Committee, with the committee continuing to include department staff affected by the projects, the Directors of Public Works and General Services, the County Administrative Officer, and others as appropriate.
REPORT
On November 16, 2021, the Board of Supervisors established an Ad Hoc Committee for the Board of Supervisors/County Administrative Office space and Agriculture Department Building capital projects and directed the committee to return to the Board with recommendations for both projects. The original Board action appointed Supervisors Magsig and Pacheco as the Board members of the Ad Hoc Committee, along with affected department staff, the Directors of Public Works and General Services, the County Administrative Officer, and others as appropriate. As the Board membership will change in 2027, this item recommends updating the two Board-appointed members of the existing Ad Hoc Committee to Supervisors Bredefeld and Chavez so the committee can continue its work with current Board representation. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
The Board may decline to reconstitute the Ad Hoc Committee at this time and allow the committee to expire.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The action only changes the Board of Supervisors members serving on the existing Ad Hoc Committee and does not authorize additional expenditures or change the scope of the capital projects.
DISCUSSION:
On November 16, 2021, the Board of Supervisors established an Ad Hoc Committee for the Board of Supervisors/County Administrative Office space and Agriculture Department Building capital projects. The Board directed the Ad Hoc Committee to return to the Board with recommendations for both projects and appointed Supervisors Magsig and Pacheco as the Board members. The original action also identified department staff affected by the projects, the Directors of Public Works and General Services, the County Administrative Officer, and others as appropriate as participants in the Ad Hoc Committee.
The capital projects remain matters requiring coordination between the Board, County Administrative Office, affected departments, the Department of Public Works and Planning, and the General Services Department. With the anticipated change in Board membership in 2027, it is appropriate to update the Board representatives serving on the Ad Hoc Committee. This item removes Supervisors Magsig and Pacheco and appoints Supervisors Bredefeld and Chavez to serve as the Board members of the Capital Projects Ad Hoc Committee.
All other components of the November 16, 2021 Board action establishing the Ad Hoc Committee remain unchanged.
