RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2025-26 appropriations for Zone C of County Service Area No. 35, Fund 0220, Subclass 12220, Org 9156, in the amount of $25,000 using available fund balance for the funding of road maintenance operations (4/5 vote).

REPORT

Approval of the recommended action will increase FY 2025-26 appropriations in the amount of $25,000 for County Service Area 35 Zone C (CSA 35C), Org 9156 from available fund balance. This item pertains to a location in District 5.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the recommended action is not approved for CSA 35C, the districts will be unable to perform the road improvements requested by the CSA 35C Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) this fiscal year.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Approval of the recommended action will increase the appropriations for CSA 35C in the amount of $25,000 utilizing existing fund balance. All operation, maintenance, and administrative costs are paid for by the benefitted property owners within CSA 35C, from property assessments, and interest revenue.

DISCUSSION:

CSA 35C was formed in 1987, to provide road maintenance for Puma Lane and Wolverine Lane in Squaw Valley, south of Highway 168 and west of George Smith Road. There are 65 parcels in CSA 35C. The CSA 35C maintenance budget is funded by annual assessments and interest on cash reserves.

The CAC for CSA 35C requested a road assessment from the Public Works and Planning, Division of Road Maintenance and Operations. The recommended improvements include mowing, tree trimming, shoulder work, and minor patching.

If the proposed Budget Resolution is approved, the budgeted appropriations for CSA 35C will be increased by $25,000 from CSA 35C’s General Reserves.
