SUBJECT: Appoint Director to the Riverdale Memorial District Board of
Directors in Accordance with California Elections Code Section
10515(b)
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Consider and appoint candidate LeRoy E. Mayfield II to the Riverdale Memorial District Board of Directors to a full-term expiring December 1, 2028.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will appoint a director to the Riverdale Memorial District board of directors (board). The Riverdale Memorial District is governed by California Military and Veterans Code §1190 et seq. This item pertains to a location in District 4.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If the recommended action is not approved, the director position will remain vacant for the board.
DISCUSSION:
In accordance with California Elections Code Section 10515(b), the Board of Supervisors, as the supervising authority, shall appoint any person to the office who is qualified on the date when the election would have been held if no person has filed a declaration of candidacy for any office. Fresno County is the principal county for the previously named Special District.
On January 2, 2025, the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors received a Boards, Commissions, Committee (BCC) Application for LeRoy E. Mayfield II. Mr. Mayfield did not file a declaration of candidacy for the November 5, 2024 Consolidated General Election. The candidate is qualified to serve on the Riverdale Memorial District pursuant to California Military and Veterans Code §1197.
On January 22, 2025, the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors received a BCC Application from another qualified candidate, Letisha Donnell-Nunes, after the time for publication of the original board agenda item had expired.
