FISCAL IMPACT:

DISCUSSION:

The purpose of the Board’s letter to the Governor is to request restoration of the allocation of funding in the City of Fresno’s Public Infrastructure Plan.

The Governor originally reallocated $250 million in his May revise budget from the Local Government Sustainability Fund, which was intended to support areas with high unemployment and poverty to develop a more climate-resilient local economy and pursue economic diversification initiatives to the City of Fresno’s Public Infrastructure Plan.  The Legislature’s 2023-24 State budget proposes to reduce and reallocate $200 million from the City of Fresno’s Public Infrastructure Plan to other budgetary needs leaving a balance of $50 million for the City’s Plan.

In addition to restoring funding levels in the City of Fresno’s Plan to $250 million, the letter also requests funding be allocated back into the Local Government Sustainability Fund for use by Central Valley Counties.
