DISCUSSION:
On July 8, 2025, Administrative Policy 80 - Department Contributions of Funds for Non-County Events or Causes, was approved by your Board ensuring that the County follows a consistent process when departments seek to make contributions of funds for non-County events, causes, or anything similar.
Members of the LGBTQ+ community face disproportionately higher rates of mental health struggles, largely due to minority stress-the chronic strain caused by stigma and discrimination. The Fresno Rainbow Pride Festival provides a unique opportunity for the Department to promote mental health, substance use disorder, and suicide prevention awareness which helps reduce stigma, increase literacy and awareness, and provide earlier access to supports.
Funds will be paid directly to the event organizer for a 10’x10’ booth space. The Department will provide educational materials on mental health, substance use disorder, and suicide prevention at the event. The Department has participated in this event in the past.
