DISCUSSION:

On January 2024, FPNW reached out to Supervisor Brandau requesting County support for FPNW’s campaign to replace missing, distressed, or out-of-date signage for neighborhood watch locations within the County islands in northwest Fresno. FPNW reports that approximately 100 signs are needed, at an estimated cost of $6,000.  The signs will be reviewed and approved by the Sheriff’s Office prior to purchasing.

Supervisor Brandau is requesting a one-time authorization of $6,000 from District 2’s allocated budget to purchase these signs. Locating and replacing signage would be performed by FPNW volunteers over the upcoming months. The CAO and Sheriff have reviewed the FPNW’s signage request.

FPNW is a non-profit whose mission is to educate, empower and engage Fresno metro area residents to collaborate with each other and their governments to improve the safety and quality of life for the people in our community. FPNW was founded by Roz Clark who was instrumental to neighborhood watch programs in Fresno. Since her retirement, the all-volunteer organization has dedicated hundreds of hours to working with neighborhood leaders and law enforcement representatives to keep both County and City residents safe.
