RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve community outreach expenditure of $20,000 to support the Friends of the Historic Kingsburg Depot Project #1238, per Administrative Policy No. 75
REPORT
Approval of this item is for the expenditure/donation of $20,000 to support the Friends of the Historic Kingsburg Depot (FHKD), Project #1238. The last South Pacific (SP) locomotive in Fresno County is currently located in City of Fresno's Roeding Park. The City of Fresno has since donated SP locomotive #1238 to the FHKD. The FHKD has launched a fund-raising campaign, Project #1238, which will help fund the relocation, restoration, and display of SP locomotive #1238 in Kingsburg as part of the Historic Kingsburg Depot. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board can choose to not authorize support of District 4's request to support the FHKD, Project #1238.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the Board of Supervisors Org, 0110 FY 2024-25 Adopted Budget.
DISCUSSION:
On August 8, 2017, the Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budget for community outreach services and programs.
Approval of the recommended action will authorize District 4 to expend/donate $20,000 to support the FHKD, Project # 1238 which will help fund the relocation, restoration, and display of SP locomotive #1238 in Kingsburg as part of the Historic Kingsburg Depot.
