RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Approve Salary Resolution Amendment adjusting the salary range of the Supervising Engineer classification, effective December 11, 2023, as reflected on Appendix “A”.

REPORT

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Approval of the recommended action is consistent with Board direction and the County’s desire to remain competitive in the local labor market and retain licensed engineers and will increase the Supervising Engineer salary range by approximately 14.3%. This item is countywide.

 

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

 

If the Board does not approve the recommended action, the salary range of the impacted classification would remain unchanged.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The cost for FY 2023-24 is approximately $82,624. There are sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues in the Public Works and Planning FY 2023-24 Adopted Budget for Org 4510. Sufficient appropriations will be included in subsequent budget requests. 

 

DISCUSSION:

 

The Supervising Engineer is a licensed Professional Engineer, manages a civil and/or traffic engineering section of the Department of Public Works and Planning and is responsible for reviewing, approving, and stamping engineering plans for in-house design projects.

 

Approval of the recommended action will increase the salary range of the Supervising Engineer classification by approximately 14.3%, as reflected on Appendix “A”. This is consistent with Board direction and the County’s desire to remain competitive in the local labor market and retain licensed engineers.
