SUBJECT: Resolution and One-Year Grant Applications for CalRecycle Local Enforcement Agency Program

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Adopt Resolution authorizing submittal of one-year grant applications to the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery for Local Enforcement Agency Grant Program funds for FYs 2024-25 through 2028-29; and

2. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Public Health, or designee, to execute and submit one-year grant applications and all grant documents necessary to the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery for Local Enforcement Agency Grant Program funds for FYs 2024-25 through 2028-29 ($143,380).
REPORT
Approval of the first recommended action would approve a resolution authorizing submittal of the one-year applications to CalRecycle for five years, from FYs 2024-25 through 2028-29. If awarded, the related revenue agreements would be brought to your Board, each year, for consideration to accept one-year allocations to continue inspecting and monitoring regulated solid waste facilities. Approval of the second recommended action would authorize the Department's Director, or designee, to submit the grant applications and all grant related documents necessary to secure funding and implement the project, including payment requests to meet CalRecycle's requirements. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

The are no viable alternative actions. Should your Board not approve the recommended actions, the Department would return to your Board for submittal of the one-year grant applications and the required documents, with the risk of not meeting future deadlines that are typically open for a short period.

FISCAL IMPACT:
