SUBJECT: Budget Resolutions to Purchase Vehicles
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2025-26 appropriations for the Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator Fund 0095, Subclass 17665, Federal Asset Forfeiture Org 1466 in the amount of $100,000 (4/5 vote); and
2. Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2025-26 appropriations and estimated revenues for Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator Org 31116313 in the amount of $100,000 to purchase two vehicles (4/5 vote).
REPORT
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions as Federal Asset Forfeiture Treasury funds will be utilized for the purchase of two replacement vehicles. The recommended actions will establish appropriations and estimated revenues in the appropriate accounts for these expenses. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If the recommended actions are not approved, the Sheriff's Office would not be able to replace the two aging vehicles posing potential risks to operational continuity, fiscal health, and staff safety within the department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. Approval of the first recommended action will increase the FY 2025-26 appropriations in the Sheriff's Special Revenue Fund (SRF) Federal Asset Forfeiture Treasury Org 1466 to process an Operating Transfer Out. Approval of the second recommended action will increase the FY 2025-26 appropriations and estimated revenues in Sheriff's Org 31116313 for program 92092 in the amount of $100,000 for purchase of the two vehicles through an Operating Transfer In from the Federal Asset Forfeiture Treasury Org 1466. Ongoing costs, including maintenance, for these vehicles will be included in future budget requests.
