SUBJECT: Retroactive First Amendment to Agreement with Siemens Industry, Inc.
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute Retroactive First Amendment to Agreement No. 24-203 with Siemens Industry, Inc., to remove services from the South Annex Jail and add services to the West Annex Jail effective January 1, 2026, with no change to the term of January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2028, and increasing the maximum by $118,201 to a total of $3,107,101.
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The Sheriff's security system is a highly technical and complex integrated electronic system of cameras, video monitors, intercoms, phones, electronic door controls, elevator controls, and metal detectors. The recommended amendment will add security services for the new West Annex Jail that opened on December 14, 2024 and remove security services from the South Annex Jail that closed on December 14, 2024. The recommended amendment increases the agreement's maximum by $118,201This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There is no viable alternative action. If the recommended action is not approved the Sheriff's Office will not be able to cancel services at the South Annex Jail or implement vital security systems at the West Annex Jail that are essential maintaining the safety and security of officers, staff, incarcerated persons and civilians.
RETROACTIVE AGREEMENT:
The recommended action is retroactive to January 1, 2026, due to the length of time required to obtain the recommended proposal to add services to the West Annex Jail with the recommended amendment. The signed amendment was received from the vendor on January 22, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
