SUBJECT: Contract Change Order for Contract No. 20-05-C, Laton Pedestrian and Drainage Improvements, Federal Project No. ATPL-5942(275)

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Authorize the Chairman to execute a Contract Change Order for Contract No. 20-05-C, Laton Pedestrian and Drainage Improvements, which will increase the contract amount by $97,324.15. This increase, in addition to previous contract change orders signed by the Director of Public Works and Planning of $47,021.26, will increase the total contract amount from $2,295,015 to $2,439,360.41.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will authorize the Chairman to execute contract changes in excess of the Director's limit of $127,250 necessary to authorize payment for quantities of materials placed, as well as additional finishing work necessary for project acceptance by various regulatory and funding agencies. This item pertains to a location in District 4.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the recommended action is not approved, there will not be sufficient contract funds to perform the additional work. If the additional work is not completed, the State Water Resources Control Board and Caltrans will not allow permit closure or final payment as necessary to close out the project.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The Active Transportation Program (ATP) will reimburse 95% of the contract construction costs. On January 21, 2020, the Board approved Resolution 20-0019 in which the County agreed to pay for utility relocation costs for which Laton Community Services District would otherwise have been legally liable. At completion of the project, these costs will total $132,498, or 5% of the total project cost. These costs will be paid for out of the Road Fund.
