SUBJECT: Retroactive FY 2025-26 Boating Safety and Enforcement Equipment Grant Application and Agreement
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Retroactively authorize the Sheriff's previous submittal of an equipment grant application to the State of California - Natural Resources Agency Department of Parks and Recreation Division of Boating and Waterways for the Sheriff's Office's Boating Safety Unit ($55,980);
2. Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute Grant Agreement with the State of California - Natural Resources Agency Department of Parks and Recreation Division of Boating and Waterways for a supplemental grant, including all required certifications, effective October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2033 ($55,980);
3. Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2025-26 appropriations and estimated revenues for Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator Org 3111 in the amount of $55,980 (4/5 vote); and
4. Authorize the Sheriff, or their authorized representative, to sign requests for reimbursement documents and any other documents necessary for the grant.
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. The grant application was submitted to the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation Division of Boating and Waterways (State), contingent on your Board's approval. The Sheriff's Office received notifications from the State on September 24, 2025 that the County was awarded a supplemental grant in the amount of $55,980 to purchase equipment for the Boating Safety Unit. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There is no viable alternative action. The non-approval of this item will result in the loss of the Boating and Waterways Equipment Grant awarded for FY 2025-26, and will impact the Sheriff's Boating Safety Unit's ability to conduct underwater search and rescue and recovery operations, and ...
