SUBJECT: Appointment to the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) and the Urban Counties of California (UCC) Coalition
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Appoint a Member and Alternate Member of the Board of Supervisors to the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Board of Directors for a one-year term (2024 to 2025); and Appoint a Member and one or two Alternate Members of the Board of Supervisors to the Urban Counties of California (UCC) Coalition Board of Directors for a two-year term (2025 through 2026); and direct the Clerk of the Board to provide notification to CSAC and UCC, respectively.
REPORT
The appointments will provide your Board representation on the CSAC Board of Directors and UCC Board of Directors.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
The appointments are at the discretion of the Board, but designation of a Board member is required for participation in the UCC coalition.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost association with the recommended actions. The membership fee for the UCC coalition is $37,000 per year and funded with appropriations in Org 2540, Interest and Miscellaneous Expenditures.
DISCUSSION:
Every year, CSAC requests the Board of Supervisors to designate two members to serve as its representative and alternate on the CSAC Board of Directors. Under provisions of the CSAC Constitution, members of the Board of Directors and alternates are nominated by their respective Board of Supervisors and appointed by the Executive Committee to one-year terms of office commencing with the first day of the CSAC Annual Meeting. This year, the CSAC Annual Meeting will begin on November 18, 2024. Any member of the Board of Supervisors is eligible for the directorship.
