SUBJECT: Ratification of Agreement and Amendment with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, LLC for daily operation and administration of the County COVID-19 alternate care site

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Ratify Agreement and First Amendment with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, LLC to coordinate and staff daily operation and administration of the COVID-19 alternate care site services, previously executed by the County Administrative Officer acting as the Emergency Services Director, effective August 7, 2020 through December 31, 2021, total not to exceed $33,818,696.
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Approval of the recommended action will ratify Agreement and Amendment with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, LLC to continue as the contracted agency to coordinate services and staffing when an Alternate Care Site is activated under the County coordination. The Agreement provides for a maximum of fifty (50) beds dedicated to low acuity care for County residents at the designated alternate care site to alleviate strain on local hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. This contract was crucial in helping address the countywide hospital emergency service surge and staffing issues during the high peak of COVID-19 cases. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Should you Board not approve the recommended action, the Department would lose the ability to quickly respond to a future hospital capacity surge issue.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The Agreement and amendment ($33,818,696) are fully offset with the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
