RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve community outreach expenditure of $3,111 for the San Joaquin Valley Water Infrastructure Authority Fiscal Year 2022-23 membership dues, per Administrative Policy No. 75.

REPORT
Approval of this item is for the expenditure of $3,111 for the San Joaquin Valley Water Infrastructure Authority Fiscal Year 2022-23 membership dues. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Your board can choose not to authorize District 4's payment of the membership dues.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in net county cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the proposed budget for the FY 2023-24 within the Board of Supervisors Org 0110.

DISCUSSION:

On August 8, 2017, the Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budgets for community outreach services and programs. This expenditure to pay the Fiscal Year 2022-23 membership dues for the San Joaquin Valley Water Infrastructure Authority, was sent to County Counsel for review and approval. County Counsel deemed it an appropriate expenditure under the Administrative Policy No. 75 guidelines.

On August 25, 2015, your Board approved the Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement Creating the San Joaquin Valley Water Infrastructure Authority. The initial participating members of the Authority were the Counties of Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced and Tulare. Since its formation, the Cities of Fresno, Avenal, and Orange Cove have been added as well as the Friant Water Authority, the San Joaquin River Exchange Contractors Water Authority, and the San Luis and Delta-Mendota Water Authority.
