SUBJECT: Revision to Certificate of Appointment for Sierra Cedars Community Services District Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve a revision to the Certificate of Appointment for Sierra Cedars Community Services District director, Ralph Scott Moore, previously issued on December 3, 2024.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will correct the term expiration date on the Certificate of Appointment for the Sierra Cedars Community Services District (District) director, Ralph Scott Moore. There is no Net County Cost (NCC) associated with the recommended action. This item pertains to a location in District 5.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There are no viable alternative actions. The recommended revision to the Certificate of Appointment will reflect the correct term of office for the director pursuant to California Government Code Section 61042, and California Elections Code Section 10515(b).
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no NCC or cost associated with the recommended action.
DISCUSSION:
The District is governed by the California Government Code Section 61040 et seq. The District was formed in 1964, and provides services for water, snow removal, and road maintenance to the community. Pursuant to California Elections Code Section 10515(b), your Board, as the supervising authority of the District, shall appoint any person to the office who is qualified on the date when the election would have been held if no person filed a declaration of candidacy for that office.
On November 5, 2024, the Board appointed Craig Middleton to the District's short-term director position, expiring December 4, 2026. On December 3, 2024, at staff's recommendation, the Board also appointed Ralph Scott Moore to the same short-term director position on the District's Board of Directors, expiring on December 4, 2026.
