RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve community outreach expenditure of $800 to sponsor the Fresno Sheriff's Memorial Foundation, Sheriff's Memorial Auction and Dinner, per Administrative Policy No. 75.
REPORT
Approval of this item is for the expenditure of $800 to sponsor the Fresno Sheriff's Memorial Foundation (Sheriff's Foundation), Sheriff's Memorial Auction and Dinner event by purchasing a table of 8. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your board can choose not to authorize District 5's sponsorship of the event.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in net county cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the proposed budget for the FY 2024-25 within the Board of Supervisors Org 0110.
DISCUSSION:
The Sheriff's Foundation was established in January 2022, with the mission to honor those members of the Fresno County Sheriff's Office who gave the ultimate sacrifice, support their family's needs, and pay tribute to their sacrifice. Many of the Sheriff's Foundation's members are Fresno County Sheriff Deputies, including current and retired sheriffs.
On Friday, November 1, 2024, the Sheriff's Foundation will be hosting their second annual Sheriff's Memorial Auction and Dinner. Proceeds from the dinner will help the Sheriff's Foundation complete the Memorial and Heritage Center at the new Area 2 Substation, as well as support the Family Relief Fund, and Scholarships for the families of the fallen. The purchase of a table for 8 will help support this initiative.
On August 8, 2017, your Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budgets for community outreach services and programs. This expendit...
