SUBJECT: Response to 2022-23 Fresno County Grand Jury Final Report No. 1
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS:
TITLE
1. Review the findings and recommendations of the 2022-23 Fresno County Grand Jury Final Report No. 1 and adopt the recommended responses; and
2. Order the Board's responses to the 2022-23 Fresno County Grand Jury Final Report No. 1 be filed with the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court.
REPORT
On April 26, 2023, the Grand Jury filed the 2022-23 Final Report No. 1, which examined the condition of the Veterans Liberty Cemetery. The Grand Jury requested responses from your Board to Findings F2, F3, F5 and F6 and Recommendations R1, R6 and R8, which are within the County's scope of responsibility. Recommended responses are included in Attachment A for your Board's consideration. Upon adoption by your Board, responses will be submitted to the Presiding Judge.
Additionally, it should be noted that the Grand Jury requested responses from the County's Director of Public Works and Planning, included as Attachment B.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There is no alternative action. California Penal Code, section 933(c) requires that your Board respond to the Presiding Judge within 90 days.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions.
DISCUSSION:
On April 26, 2023, the Grand Jury filed the 2022-23 Final Report No. 1, which examined the condition of the Veterans Liberty Cemetery. The Report contains nine Findings and nine Recommendations. The Grand Jury requested responses from your Board to Findings F2, F3, F5 and F6 and Recommendations R1, R6 and R8, which are within the County's scope of responsibility.
