SUBJECT: Sheriff's Office Non-Patrol Vehicle Purchase

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2021-22 appropriations and estimated revenues in the amount of $145,500 in the Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator Org 3111 for the purchase and up-fitting of non-patrol vehicles (4/5 vote).
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with this action. The Sheriff's Office will receive accumulated proceeds from the sale of surplus Sheriff vehicles and sales of wrecked and scrap vehicle materials. The Sheriff's Office is estimating $104,315 that can be used to purchase replacement vehicles. Additionally, this purchase will utilize a reimbursement credit of $41,185 from a previously ordered transport vehicle that was never built nor delivered. Using these funding sources, approval of the recommended action will allow the Sheriff's Office to purchase four (4) Sheriff vehicles, including the prisoner transport vehicle, which was not built, and three non-patrol vehicles. The vehicles will be utilized by the Sheriff's Court Services Unit and community services operations. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

The County can defer the purchase of replacement vehicles; however, this delay will likely result in higher maintenance costs and fewer future vehicles purchased as costs for new vehicles will continue to escalate.

FISCAL IMPACT:
