SUBMITTED BY: Nathan Magsig, Supervisor, District 5

SUBJECT: Community Outreach Expenditure

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve community outreach expenditure of $2,000 for the Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation, per Administrative Policy No. 75.
REPORT
Approval of this item is for the expenditure of $2,000 to support the Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation in their upcoming fundraiser which will benefit the Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation’s Memorial and Heritage Center, as well as support the Family Relief Fund and Scholarships for the families of the fallen. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Your Board can choose not to approve a community outreach expenditure from District 5 to support the Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation’s fundraiser benefiting the Memorial and Heritage Center, Family Relief Fund and Scholarships for families of the fallen.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the Board of Supervisors Org 0110 FY 2026-27 Recommended Budget.

DISCUSSION:

On August 8, 2017, the Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budgets for community outreach services and programs.

Approval of the recommended action will allow for the purchase of a table of eight at the 4th Annual Sheriff’s Memorial Auction and Dinner Fundraiser event. This event benefits the Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation’s Memorial and Heritage Center, as well as support the Family Relief Fund and Scholarships for the families of the fallen.

This expenditure was sent to County Counsel for review and approval. County Counsel deemed it an appropriate expenditure under Administrative Policy No. 75 guidelines.
