SUBJECT: Agreement with Pacific Publishing Group, Inc., dba The Business Journal
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a countywide Agreement with Pacific Publishing Group, Inc., dba The Business Journal, for publication of legal notices, effective February 4, 2025, not to exceed five consecutive years, which includes a three-year base contract and two optional one-year extensions, total not to exceed $890,000.
REPORT
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action, which will authorize Pacific Publishing Group, Inc., dba The Business Journal (The Business Journal) to provide the publishing of legal notices for various County departments on an as-needed basis. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There is no viable alternative action. Should your Board not approve the recommended action, County departments would pay non-contracted rates to post legal notices in a publication of general circulation, as required by applicable statutes.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Costs associated with the recommended Agreement will not exceed $890,000 for the total five-year term. User departments are responsible for ensuring their respective budgets, including account 7325 - Publications and Legal Notices, have sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues for the publication of legal notices.
DISCUSSION:
Various statutes (e.g., Government Code, Probate Code, Revenue and Taxation Code) require the publication of legal notices in a publication of general circulation.
