SUBJECT: Agreement for ALS First Responder Services with Fresno County Fire Protection District
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Agreement with the Fresno County Fire Protection District for Advanced Life Support/Paramedic First Responder Services, effective upon execution, not to exceed five consecutive years, which includes a three-year base contract and two optional one-year extensions ($0).
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will allow the Fresno County Fire Protection District (FCFPD) to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS/paramedic) First Responder services in the County of Fresno. The recommended agreement satisfies the requirement under Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations (Title 22) for the County to have a written agreement with paramedic provider agencies. There is no increase in Net County Cost. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board may choose not to approve the agreement. In that event, FCFPD would not be allowed to provide ALS First Responder services in the County of Fresno. ALS/paramedic service providers are required to have a written agreement with the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency, per Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. There is no compensation attached to the recommended agreement.
DISCUSSION:
The County, through the Fresno County Department of Public Health (Department), has been designated as the Local EMS Agency of the County pursuant to the California Health and Safety Code, section 1797.200.
