RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve revised Administrative Policy No. 76 - Grants to Non-Governmental and Non-Profit Organizations from the General Fund, which removes fixed dollar amounts noted for exempt organizations.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will approve revisions to Administrative Policy No. 76 (AP 76) to remove fixed dollar amounts noted for exempt organizations. Funding levels will continue to be approved by your Board through the budget process. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Your Board may choose not to remove the fixed amounts and instead update the dollar amounts to reflect current approved expenditures.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.

DISCUSSION:

On June 5, 2018, the Board approved AP 76 establishing a formal process for awarding grants to non-governmental and non-profit organizations using General Fund discretionary revenues. The policy sets annual limits on grants at $2,500 per organization, requires annual expenditure reporting, and ensures that all awards align with the County's mission, vision, and goals. All grants must also be considered during the budget process to control fiscal impact and maintain accountability.

The policy further specified that certain organizations were grandfathered in or exempt from the annual cap and allowed them to continue receiving grant amounts above the established threshold. This provision recognized existing contributions while ensuring future grants adhere to the new guidelines.
