SUBJECT: Retroactive Revenue Agreements with the USDA Forest Service, Sierra National Forests for Law Enforcement Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a retroactive revenue Agreement referred to as the 2021 Controlled Substance Annual Operating and Financial Plan, Modification 12, to Agreement 17-103 with the USDA, Forest Service, Sierra and Sequoia National Forest, effective October 01, 2020 and ending September 30, 2021, total not to exceed $18,000.
2. Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a retroactive revenue Agreement, referred to as the 2021 Annual Operating and Financial Plan, Modification 11, to Agreement 17-103 with the USDA, Forest Services, Sierra National Forest, effective October 01, 2020 and ending September 30, 2021, total not to exceed $26,000.
REPORT
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions, which will allow the Sheriff's Office to continue to work cooperatively with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to provide patrol and enforcement coverage in campgrounds and recreational sites during the summer months, and to combat controlled substance issues on USFS lands. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There is no viable alternative action. If the recommended actions are not approved, no additional services will be provided by the Sheriff's Office on USFS lands.
RETROACTIVE AGREEMENT:
The recommended agreements are being brought to the Board retroactively due to the delay in receiving them from the USFS. The recommended agreements for Modifications 11 and 12 were received from the USFS on May 24, 2021, and are being brought to your Board at the first available Board date after processing.
