SUBJECT: Community Outreach Expenditure – Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve community outreach expenditure of $5,000 to support the Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation Heritage Center, per Administrative Policy No. 75.
REPORT
Approval of this item is for the expenditure of $5,000 to support the Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation Heritage Center at the Area 2 substation. The Heritage Center is part of the memorial honoring fallen Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75. This item pertains to a facility located in District 5.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board may choose not to authorize the $5,000 expenditure to support the Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation Heritage Center.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the Board of Supervisors Org 0110 FY 2026-27 Adopted Budget.
DISCUSSION:
On August 8, 2017, the Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budgets for community outreach services and programs.
On March 11, 2025, your Board approved a revision to Administrative Policy No. 75 to require Board approval on non-county business donations in excess of $1,500.
The Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation is developing the Heritage Center at the Area 2 substation as part of the memorial honoring fallen Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies. Approval of the recommended action will provide $5,000 toward development of the Heritage Center. The County will have no involvement in development of the memorial or Heritage Center, which is being coordinated through the Sheriff’s labor units.
