TO: Board of Supervisors
SUBMITTED BY: Buddy Mendes, Supervisor District 4
SUBJECT: Community Outreach Expenditure Amendment
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve amendment to Community Outreach Expenditure in the amount of $2,500 for the California 9/11 Memorial to instead reassign the previously approved expenditure to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California ($2,500), per Administrative Policy No. 75
REPORT
Approval of this item will amend your Board's September 9, 2025, approval to expend $2,500 of District 4 funds to support the California 9/11 Memorial and instead reassign the $2,500 to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California (BBBS). BBBS is a nonprofit organization with the mission to create and support one-on-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. The funds would help BBBS' mentorship program, which benefits children and youth in the community by connecting them with a mentor. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure, as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board can choose to deny District 4's amendment request and not authorize District 4 support for BBBS' mentorship program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Approval of the recommended action will amend District 4's previously approved expenditure and reassign the $2,500 to support BBBS. Sufficient appropriations are included in District 4, Board of Supervisors Org, 01100104 FY 2025-26 Adopted Budget.
