SUBJECT: Retroactive Amendment to Agreement with The Regents of the University of California

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute retroactive First Amendment to Revenue Agreement No. 20-123 with The Regents of the University of California, on behalf of the University of California, San Francisco, for the Best Baby Zone project extending the term by one year from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 and increasing the maximum by $100,000 to a total of $199,718.
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Approval of the recommended action will provide the Department of Public Health with an additional year of funding from The Regents of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), to support the existing Best Baby Zone project, Fresno GROWS (Growing, Real Opportunities for West Fresno), an equity-focused collective impact initiative in the 93706 ZIP code. This item pertains to District 1.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

There are no alternative actions. Should your Board not approve the recommended action, the Department would not be able to accept UCSF funds to support the Fresno GROWS initiative for FY 2020-21.

RETROACTIVE AGREEMENT:

The recommended amendment with UCSF is retroactive to July 1, 2020. It was received from UCSF on April 13, 2021 due to delays related to COVID-19 response efforts. The time required to review and prepare the recommended amendment did not allow presentation to your Board at an earlier date.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The additional non-federal funding ($100,000) from UCSF will pass through from the Department to the Fresno GROWS lead agency, West Fresno Family Resource Center (WFFRC), to support the Fresno GROWS initiative.
