SUBJECT: Community Outreach Expenditure
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
Approve community outreach expenditure of $20,000 to sponsor and support the Fresno County Sheriff's Memorial Foundation, per Administrative Policy No. 75.
Approval of this item is for the expenditure of $20,000 to sponsor and support the Fresno County Sheriff's Foundation, a nonprofit organization serving to honor Sheriff Deputies that have fallen in the line of service by honoring their memory and supporting their family's needs. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board can choose not to authorize support of District 4's donation to the Fresno County Sheriff's Memorial Foundation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the Board of Supervisors Org. 0110 FY 2025-26 Adopted Budget.
DISCUSSION:
On August 8, 2017, your Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budgets for community outreach services and programs.
On March 11, 2025, your Board approved a revision to Administrative Policy No. 75 to require Board approval on non-county business donations in excess of $1,500.
The Fresno Sheriff's Memorial Foundation was established in January of 2022, as a non-profit project of the Fresno Sheriff's Sergeant Association to honor those members of the Fresno County Sheriff's Office who gave the ultimate sacrifice and died in the line of duty.
Approval of the recommended action will authorize District 4 to expend $20,000 to sponsor and support the Fresno Sheriff's Memorial. County Counsel deemed it an appropriate expenditure under Administrative Policy No. 75 guidelines.
