SUBJECT:                     Budget Resolution increasing FY 2018-19 appropriations and estimated revenues for the Department of Agriculture

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2018-19 appropriations and estimated revenues for Department of  Agriculture Org. 4010 in the amount of $168,000 (4/5 vote).

REPORT

The Department of Agriculture received funding in excess of what was budgeted for Unclaimed Gasoline Tax revenue for FY 2018-19. The Department would like to use the excess amount of $168,000 to purchase six Toyota Tacoma trucks. The approval of the recommended action will increase the appropriations and estimated revenues for the Department of Agriculture. These items are countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the recommended action is not approved by your Board, the Department of Agriculture will not be able to purchase the vehicles.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. The additional funding comes from the reimbursement for Unclaimed Gasoline Tax. Approval of the recommended action will increase FY 2018-19 Operating Transfer Out and Estimated Revenues in State-Aid for Agriculture account in the amount of $168,000.

DISCUSSION:

The Department of Agriculture has a fleet of over 130 vehicles. The Department has identified several trucks that need to be replaced and would like to utilize the excess Unclaimed Gasoline Tax revenue to purchase six replacement Toyota Tacoma trucks. There will be no increase to the Department’s fleet size as six old trucks will be returned to Fleet Services. Fleet Services’ budget for Light Duty Vehicles is sufficient to purchase the trucks.
