SUBJECT: Donation of Bullet-Proof Vests by the Sheriff's Office to Advance Armenia Foundation
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt resolution retroactively declaring certain expired bullet-proof vests surplus, and ratifying the donation of these bullet proof vests by the Sheriff's Office to Advance Armenia Foundation, a 501(c)(3) foundation.
REPORT
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The recommended action will retroactively declare 291 expired bullet-proof vests, along with 80 ballistic and stab panels for the vests (Bullet-Proof Vests) surplus, and ratify the donation of the Bullet-Proof Vests by the Sheriff's Office to Advance Armenia Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This donation occurred in November 2020. These Bullet-Proof Vests were no longer usable by the Sheriff's Office, due to the expiration dates of the Bullet-Proof Vests, but the recipient of the donation represented that they are still usable by the recipient to assist in law enforcement and field medical services in Armenia. This item is Countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There is no viable alternative action.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The value of each donated Bullet-Proof Vest was zero dollars ($0), as they were no longer usable by the County. These Bullet-Proof Vests have a life cycle of five (5) years. The donated Bullet-Proof Vests had a variety of expiration dates, but most are estimated to have expired around October of 2018.
