SUBJECT: Amendment I to Agreement with Siemens Industry, Inc. to provide security
maintenance services
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute Amendment I to Agreement A-13-738 with Siemens Industry, Inc., to increase the annual maximum for additional security maintenance services within the Sheriff-Coroner Office's Jail Detention Facilities by $100,000 to $150,000 for calendar year 2016 (January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016) and increasing the agreement maximum to $200,000 through December 31, 2017.
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The current agreement (A-13-738) allows the County to request additional fire and life safety, security, Master Antenna Television and pneumatic systems maintenance and repair at various jail facilities up to $50,000 per calendar year. Approval of the recommended increase to $150,000 will allow the Sheriff-Coroner's Office to upgrade existing security systems at various jail facilities during calendar year 2016. Additional services for calendar year 2017 are estimated to revert back to the original agreement amount of up to $50,000 per year.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There is no viable alternative action. If the recommended action is not approved the existing security systems at the various jail facilities will not be upgraded to enhance the safety and security of officers, inmates and civilians.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The current annual maximum for additional services is in the amount $50,000; the requested increase of an additional $100,000 to a total of $150,000 will be absorbed within the Sheriff-Coroner's 3111 FY 2016-17 adopted budget.
