SUBJECT: Special Election to Fill a Vacancy on the Del Rey Community Service District Board of Directors
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt a Resolution approving the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters to conduct a Special Election on November 4, 2025, for the Del Rey Community Service District.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will allow the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters to conduct a Special Election, to be held on November 4, 2025, to fill a vacancy on the Del Rey Community Service District (district), Board of Directors. This item pertains to District 4.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There are no viable alternative actions. The County Clerk/Registrar of Voters is the only local jurisdiction with the capacity to meet the legal requirements to conduct this election at this time. [AR1]
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The district has agreed, by Resolution No. 2025-9, to reimburse the County for all costs related to the November 4, 2025 Special Election. The estimated cost range for the Special Election is $15,000 to $20,000.
DISCUSSION:
On June 24, 2025, the district approved Resolution No. 2025-6, calling for a Special Election to fill a vacancy on its Board of Directors. The vacancy is due to the resignation of then board member Maria Reyna, effective September 19, 2024. On August 7, 2025, the district approved Resolution No. 2025-9, requesting that the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters [AR2]conduct the Special Election[AR3]. Approval of the recommended action will authorize the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters to conduct the Special Election on November 4, 2025, at the district's request.
