SUBJECT: Department Contribution of Funds for Community Outreach Event

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Department of Public Health to contribute funds to participate in the Fresno Rainbow Pride Festival for fiscal year 2025-26, pursuant to Administrative Policy 80.
REPORT
Administrative Policy 80 establishes the framework for Departmental contributions to non-County events. Approval of this item authorizes the Department to allocate funds to participate in the Fresno Rainbow Pride Festival on June 6, 2026. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Should your Board not approve of either recommended action, the Department will not proceed with the unapproved activity.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. Costs for the 10'x10' booth space are estimated to be $125, fully offset with California Department of Public Health Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Prevention and Collaboration funding. Sufficient appropriations and offsetting revenue are included in the Department's Org 5620 FY 2025-26 Adopted Budget.

DISCUSSION:

On June 10, 2025, your Board discussed department sponsorships and financial contributions to community events. At that time, direction was given to the County Administrative Officer (CAO) to establish a formal process for such participation and funding.

On July 8, 2025, Administrative Policy 80 - Department Contributions of Funds for Non-County Events or Causes, was approved by your Board ensuring that the County follows a consistent process when departments seek to make contributions of funds for non-County events, causes, or similar activities.
