TO: Board of Supervisors
SUBMITTED BY: Brian Pacheco, Supervisor, District 1
SUBJECT: Community Outreach Expenditure
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve community outreach expenditure of $5,000 to support the Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation, per Administrative Policy No. 75.
REPORT
Approval of this item is for the expenditure of $5,000 to support the Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation's Mariposa Winter Village event in Downtown Fresno. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board can choose to not authorize support of District 1 to the Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation (FAHF) for their upcoming Mariposa Winter Village event.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the Board of Supervisors Org, 0110 FY 2025-26 Adopted Budget.
DISCUSSION:
On August 8, 2017, the Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budgets for community outreach services and programs.
On March 11, 2025, your Board approved a revision to Administrative Policy No. 75 to require Board approval on non-county business donations in excess of $1,500.
The Mariposa Winter Village is organized by the FAHF, whose mission is to strengthen Fresno's economy and community. Approval of the recommended action will allow for the purchase of General Admission tickets to the Mariposa Winter Village Ice Skating Rink. These tickets would be distributed to local agencies to give to children and families who may not otherwise have the financial means to attend this community event.
This expenditure was sent to County Counsel for review and approval. County Counsel deemed it an appropriate expenditure under Administrative Policy No. 75 guidelines.
