SUBJECT: Amendment I to Agreement for the Suicide Prevention Follow-Up Call Pilot Program

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute Amendment I to Agreement with Kings View Behavioral Health System for follow-up call services for the Suicide Prevention Follow-Up Call Innovation pilot program, extending the term by twelve (12) months from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, with no change to the maximum compensation of $765,000.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended actions will extend the existing agreement with Kings View Behavioral Health Systems by twelve (12) months, resulting in a four-year contract. This will extend the program providing resources and linkage to appropriate behavioral health services for those who have called the suicide prevention lifeline in crisis and/or with suicidal ideation, or persons who have recently been released from the emergency department, crisis stabilization center or inpatient care for suicide ideation and/or attempt. Extending the Agreement will allow the Department to further investigate the potential positive programmatic impacts of the program. These services will be funded with Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Innovation (INN) funds, with no increase in Net County Cost. The item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Should your Board not approve the recommended actions, the Department will end the Suicide Prevention Follow-Up Call INN program as originally planned on June 30, 2024, therefore not providing the County follow up call services or collection of data for the additional twelve (12) months.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The recommended amendment will continue services using unspent funds from previous years with no increase to the maximum compensation of $765,000. This special funding under the MHS...
