SUBJECT: Agreement with City of Mendota (CDBG 20471)

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Agreement with the City of Mendota for the Mendota Rojas Pierce Park, Community Development Block Grant Project No. 20471, effective upon execution through May 16, 2023, total Community Development Block Grant funding amount not to exceed $575,222.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will provide Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for the Mendota Rojas Pierce Park (Project), included in the County's 2020-21 Action Plan approved by your Board on April 28, 2020, and the 2021-22 Action Plan approved by your Board on May 11, 2021. The Project consists of expanding Rojas Pierce Park to the west, adding a baseball field, two soccer fields, restroom and concession facilities, and sports field lighting. Irrigation, landscaping, drinking fountains, fencing, shade structures, and appurtenant utilities will be installed. The County will provide $575,222 in CDBG funds for the Project, and the City will provide a local financial contribution of $840,211 in excess of the CDBG funds necessary to complete the Project, which will be completed by May 16, 2023. This item pertains to a location in District 1.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Your Board may direct the City to propose a different eligible use for its CDBG funds; however, a different use would require an amendment to the County's 2020-21 and 2021-22 Action Plans for CDBG funds.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The Project's total estimated cost is $1,415,433, which includes construction; design and construction engineering; and contingency, permits, and miscellaneous.
