RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve community outreach expenditure of $4,270 to sponsor and support the Strong Positive Influences Reflect Independent Thinking (SPIRIT) soul and gospel music event, per Administrative Policy No. 75
REPORT
Approval of this item is for the expenditure of $4,270 to sponsor and support SPIRIT, a 501(c) (3) non-profit California Corporation, which will hold an outdoor gospel and soul music event on October 18, 2025, at Kearney Park. This is a one-day community event presented by Saint Rest Baptist Church and community partners entitled "Soul & Gospel in the Park." This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board can choose to not authorize support of District 1 to the SPIRIT's "Soul & Gospel in the Park" event.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the Board of Supervisors Org, 0110 FY 2025-26 Adopted Budget.
DISCUSSION:
On August 8, 2017, your Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budgets for community outreach services and programs.
On March 11, 2025, your Board approved a revision to Administrative Policy No. 75 to require Board approval on non-county business donations in excess of $1,500.
Approval of the recommended action will authorize District 1 to expend $4,270 to sponsor and support the SPIRIT event which will be held on October 18, 2025, at Kearney Park. The sponsorship will help SPIRIT pay for the day-use cost for the park facility ($3,270) and a refundable deposit of ($1,000). All, or any portion, of the refundable deposit that is not used, will return to the District 1 budget.
