SUBJECT: Agreement with Tek84 Inc. for Compact Body Scanners
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Agreement with Tek84 Inc. to purchase three compact body scanners, one TekNET, software, and services for the Juvenile Justice Campus, effective upon execution, not to exceed five consecutive years, which includes a three-year base term and two optional one-year extensions, total not to exceed $550,034;
2. Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2024-25 appropriations and estimated revenues for Probation Org 34409999 in the amount of $469,934, for the purchase of three body scanners and one TekNET (4/5 vote); and
3. Adopt Budget Resolution increasing the FY 2024-25 appropriations for the Juvenile Facility Grant fund 0075, Subclass 17306, Org 1146 in the amount of $319,968 (4/5 vote).
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. Approval of the first recommended action will allow the Probation Department (Department) to purchase compact body scanners and necessary software and maintenance services to enhance the security infrastructure at the Juvenile Justice Campus (JJC) and promote expansion of visitation, family engagement, and normative spaces. Tek84 Inc. was selected by the County of Orange, California (Orange County) following a competitive Invitation to Bid. The County of Fresno would utilize the cooperative clause in Orange County's resulting agreement, in accordance with the County's Purchasing Manual, which authorizes the County to "piggyback" off another governmental agency's contract.
