SUBJECT:                     Pacific Gas & Electric Easement Deed for Coalinga Road Yard

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Easement Deed for an easement at the Coalinga Road Yard, to allow Pacific Gas & Electric the right to maintain utility services on the property.

REPORT

There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action, which will authorize Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) to maintain utility services at the Coalinga Road Yard. This item pertains to a location in District 4.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

There is no viable alternative action. If your Board does not approve the recommend action, PG&E would not be able to maintain the PG&E-owned utility infrastructure for County operations at the Coalinga Road Yard.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost or cost associated with the recommended action.

DISCUSSION:

The County recently installed a new modular office trailer at the Coalinga Road Yard (APN 071-020-68). The trailer has increased the utility requirements of the site, such that an easement is necessary to provide sufficient utility improvements to support the trailer. The area of the easement is an approximate 10-feet wide by 195-foot-long strip of land, adjacent to the west property line of the Coalinga Road Yard from East Polk Street, as described within the recommended Easement Deed.

Approval of the recommended action will authorize the Chairman to execute the recommended Easement Deed, which will allow PG&E to trim all trees and brush along each side of the easement area to limit interference with utility maintenance.
