SUBMITTED BY: Hollis Magill, Director of Human Resources

SUBJECT: Salary Resolution Amendment

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve Amendments to the Salary Resolution, Sections 100 and 200, consolidating and retitling the Deputy Probation Officer classification series, effective July 6, 2026, as reflected on Appendix "A".
REPORT
There is no additional in Net County Cost (NCC) associated with the recommended action. Approval of the recommended action will implement the recommendations of a classification study performed by the Department of Human Resources (Human Resources), consolidating and retitling the Deputy Probation Officer I/II/III/IV classifications to Deputy Probation Officer I/II/Senior. This will result in a zero net position addition within the Probation Department. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If your Board were not to approve the recommended action, the Deputy Probation Officer I/II/III/IV classifications would remain unchanged.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in NCC associated with the recommended action. Impacted incumbent positions are only being retitled.

DISCUSSION:

Human Resources recently completed a classification study of the Deputy Probation Officer classification series. During this process, Human Resources conducted and analyzed a comparative salary survey to evaluate the salaries and classification structures of equivalent positions in the local labor market, which informed the subsequent recommendation.

The classification study findings determined that consolidating and retitling would align the Deputy Probation Officer series classification structure with comparable government agencies. Approval of the recommended action consolidates the series by deleting the vacant Deputy Probation Officer I classification and retitles Deputy Probation Officer II/III/IV classifications into Deputy Probation Officer I/II/Senior.
