Approve Amendment to the Salary Resolution adding one Deputy Probation Officer position to Probation Org 3430 effective June 4, 2018 as reflected in Appendix C.

SUBJECT: Agreement with Kings Canyon Unified School District

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Approve and authorize Chairman to execute a revenue Agreement with the Kings Canyon School District for services provided by one Deputy Probation Officer assigned to Kings Canyon Unified School District school sites from June 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019 ($43,125);
2. Adopt Budget Resolution increasing the FY 2017-18 Appropriations and Estimated Revenue in Probation Org 3430 in the amount $11,006 (4/5 vote); and
3. Approve Amendment to the Salary Resolution adding one Deputy Probation Officer position to Probation Org 3430 effective June 4, 2018 as reflected in Appendix C.
REPORT
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. Kings Canyon Unified School District (Kings Canyon USD) and the Probation Department desire a partnership to provide services. Kings Canyon USD will provide a total of $43,125 which includes $40,625 for salary and benefits and $2,500 for overtime to partially fund one Deputy Probation Officer (DPO) position. The remainder of the direct costs for this position will be funded with Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA) funds. The Fresno County Probation Department and Kings Canyon USD recognize the benefit of collaborating to provide services and have a DPO participate on the Police/Sheriff/Probation Team located on campus. Due to the collaborative nature of this Agreement, the Department recommends your Board deviate from the County policy requiring full cost recovery (including indirect costs). This practice is consistently applied to similar Agreements with other school districts. This item affects District Four.
