SUBJECT: Retroactive Approval of FY 2024 RAISE Grant and Rural Surface Transportation Grant Submissions for Millerton Road Widening and Safety Improvements
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Retroactively approve and authorize Director of Public Works and Planning's previous submittal of two grant applications to the United States Department of Transportation's FY 2024 Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity Discretionary Grant Program ($25,000,000), and the Rural Surface Transportation Grant program, ($71,000,000), both of which grant applications are for proposed Millerton Road Widening Safety improvements that would widen a 3.2-mile stretch of Millerton Road from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane divided arterial roadway, and include additional safety features.
REPORT
To meet the grant application filing deadlines, the Director of Public Works and Planning (Director) submitted the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant application on February 28, 2024, and the Rural Surface Transportation Grant (RSTG) application on May 6, 2024, contingent upon your Board's approval. Grant awards are scheduled to be announced by the summer of 2024. If either of these grants are awarded, the Department will return to your Board with the necessary agreements required for grant acceptance. This item pertains to a location in District 5.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If the recommended action is not approved, the Department will withdraw the grant applications, and the project will no longer be considered for funding under the RAISE or RSTG programs for the 2024-25 fiscal years.
FISCAL IMPACT:
