SUBJECT: National Association of Counties Credentials Voting Form and Voting Delegate Designation

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Ratify the Chairman's execution and previous submission of the 2018 Credentials Voting Form to the National Association of Counties including the designation of a voting delegate.
REPORT
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. On May 16, 2017, your Board approved continued membership in the National Association of Counties (NACo). Approval of the recommended action will ratify the previous submission of the 2018 Credential Voting Form to NACo designating Supervisor Magsig as the County of Fresno's voting delegate at the annual conference on July 13-16, 2018. The form was submitted to meet the deadline of June 29, 2018, contingent on your Board's approval. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

There is no viable alternative action. If the recommended action is not approved, the County of Fresno will not be able to participate in the association's annual election of officers and policy adoption.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The NACo calendar year (CY) 2018 dues of $18,421 were paid in October 2017. Dues for CY 2019 are included in the FY 2018-19 recommended budget for Interest and Miscellaneous Expenditures Org 2540.

DISCUSSION:

On May 16, 2017, your Board approved continued membership in NACo. The NACo is the leading voice for all counties and ensures that California county priorities are at the top of the national agenda, including federal funding for local transportation, Secure Rural Schools, Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT), State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP), and other issues impacting our county.
